On this page, I have grouped together many of the metalworking projects I have done into one.

The machinist hammer shown in the first image was one of the first projects I made on the lathe and has a fully steel construction with an Acetal plastic face on one end to not damage softer metals when hitting with the hammer.

The nickel plated, steel ring (2nd image) as a gift for a friend.

Finally the tap follower (3rd image) is effectively a spring loaded, perfectly concentric pin which is intended to provide a constant pressure on the back of a tap when threading a hole in metal.

After being machined, the ring was electroplated with nickel to prevent rusting using a nickel acetate solution, under the supervision of my chemistry teacher and in a fume cupboard for safety:
