Hi, I’m Charlie. I live in Ireland and I’m studying Electronic Engineering at UCD (Ad Astra). I like building things that move, make sound, do cool stuff, and learn - and sharing what worked (and what didn’t).
Most days I’m between the bench, the workshop, VSCode and my circuit/CAD editor. I worked at Grinds360 on ExamCreator and internal automation, and spent a summer at Patch where our team built a robot dog in six weeks.
When I’m not building, I spend my time playing guitar, playing the occasional video game or walking my dog.
Selected projects:
Guitar Amplifier (V3) - Full product that I developed from start to finish, plan to bring to market in the upcoming months. Custom PCB, competitive features, sound quality and price with other sellers.
Neural Network - Tensorflow-like Neural Network library build from first principles in C++, with arbitrary structure, a number of optimizers, activation functions, cost functions etc built in.
Electronic Lead Screw - A motorized, encoder-driven gearbox replacement for my lathe which allows gear ratio changes at the press of a button (similar to CNC conversion).
Flight Simulator Yoke - Fully functional controller and throttle for use with desktop flight simulators. Modeled after a Boeing-737 yoke.
The Robot Dog my team built during Patch 2024
Experience snapshot:
Patch 2024 - Built a robot dog with a small team in 6 weeks.
Grinds360 - Helped shit ExamCreator and automated admin systems (1yr).
Dublin Academy of Education - Exam Correcting and peer tutoring.
Ericsson - TY work experience, first experience working in a large team.
